Justin and I had decide many months ago that we would rotate the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with our families. This year, Thanksgiving was spent with my family. Well, my brother couldn't come home for Thanksgiving so my Mom came over to Florence to visit. I have been all excited and had the menu planned for a few weeks. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn on the cob, biscuits, and pumpkin and pecan pies. Enough food to feed the Army!
Justin was excited over the menu. He was not excited that he was not going to be hunting first that morning. So we planned to wake up and watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade and eat breakfast before Mom came over and I started cooking. Justin thinks the last time he saw the Thanksgiving Day Parade was when he was 4yrs old- he started hunting at 5yrs old.
This is him making pancakes...and talking to his Daddy in Florida. We got to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of his family!

After breakfast, I started cooking. I had it all planned in my mind. The night before I even double checked on all the ingredients I needed. Justin and I got the stuffing and the turkey all ready to cook.....and I realized I had preheated the oven with the top rack by mistake! Opps!
It didn't take long to cool and the rest of the morning went without problems. I finished all the sides just in time for the turkey to be done. Mom arrived just in time to eat! Here are some of the finished products!!The turkey (there is stuffing inside)

Extra Stuffing and Green Bean Casserole

Pumpkin Pie and Pecan Pie
The pumpkin pie recipe says to stick a knife in the middle to see if its done. It totally leaves a big, fat knife mark in the middle. Bad idea!Justin was an awesome help this weekend! He was right by my side to see if he could do anything to make it easier for me.
Funny Story: My Mom and I were fixing leftovers in the kitchen and she was throwing something away. The trash was getting full, so she asked who's turn it was to take out the trash. HA! It's ALWAYS Justin's turn! :)

That is Magic, my Mom's dog. She was so much more well-behaved than last time. Although, Mom has let her lay on the sofa at home. She was surprised when she couldn't do it here!
Justin is taking a big test on Monday, so he has spent lots of time taking practice tests and studying! Good luck baby!
What a relaxing weekend. Mom and I had some quality time together. We participated in the craziness of Black Friday and went shopping! Justin and I are almost done with our Christmas shopping!!

nice job Jennie!!! very impressed with all the food that you fixed. I have difficulty fixing more than 2 items at once and keeping everything hot and getting everything to be ready at the same time!!! ahh- it makes me crazy to even THINK about doing what all you did but you did an AWESOME job- soo glad you had a good visit with your mom=)
