Can we still call ourselves newlyweds....?

I turned 27 this past week. I had a sweet birthday filled with lots of birthday wishes (and even a cake from the girls at work)! My super husband planned a camping weekend for the two of us to celebrate!

We went to Myrtle Beach State Park. We left after work on Friday and zipped right over there before dusk. Justin picked a great campsite that was the last one on the road.

It was a nice size space with lots of extra room. We were not squeezed up next to some one else.

It was not as hot at the campsite because we had this nice shade.

The bugs were awful!! I do think I have had to use bug spray in MANY YEARS. After we put up the tent Friday night, we sat out and relaxed. I put on bug spray and the smell took me right back to the years I went to girl scout camp....when I was like 7!

Saturday morning we cooked us some breakfast....actually Justin did all the cooking. He made some mean scrambled eggs. Afterwards, we headed to the beach.

The beach was packed like sardines in a can. People were everywhere. There were two family reunions going on and LOTS of vacationers. We played in the water and walked the beach. Justin even let me read some magazines. (He's not so crazy about the beach.)

We went back to the campsite for some lunch (sandwiches, chips, etc.) and played some board games. Do you remember chinese checkers....it was lots of fun playing with my grandma when I was little...but it was super easy for two experienced players like Justin and I.

He did kick my butt in a game of chess.

Saturday evening, we went to my Mom's house for my birthday dinner. Porkchops, stuffing, green bean cassorole, and angel food cake with strawberries....mmmmm, it was YUMMY!

We went back to camp that evening for the best part of the weekend....

a fire.....

with SMORES!!!!

I put the chocolate bar in with the food, not the cooler. It totally melted! I was ready to give up and just eat marshmallows with graham crackers, but Justin had a BRILLANT idea!!

....we DRIZZLED the chocolate on the cracker and put it between the marshmallow!

YUMMY!

Thank you for my weekend honey. I have such a great time relaxing with you!
