My Brother, My Soldier

The two GREATEST men in my life. On the left, my wonderful husband.
Next to him, my brother, Dennis.

He enlisted in the Army in Nov 2004, he was 17yrs. old and a senior in high school. The military was all that interested him.

It still is.

He went to basic training in the fall after his high school graduation and then was sent to the hottest, windiest, and sandiest place I have ever been to.... El Paso, TX. The map doesn't lie. He is on the edge of the country. You can WALK to the border. The Wal-Mart intercom is in SPANISH!

He has deployed to Iraq once already: Nov 2006 to Dec 2007
His unit was able to return home early because they did not want the soldiers to spend 2 Christmas's in Iraq.

These are some pictures taken on the day he left for Iraq.
He was letting me hold his weapon.

I wasn't holding it right the first time, so he had to show me where to grab it at.
And then, of course, he showed me how to hold it to shoot.

These are pictures of us as a family taken the same day.

He was 20yrs. old then.

Today is a particular sad day for me. Today he called Mom with the date for his next tour of duty. His unit is set to deploy back to Iraq sometime between April 25 and May 15.

He will only have been home 16mths.

I am going to miss him....alot.

I love you Dennis!!

So sad for you and your family. Please tell him "thank you" for his faithful service for us. He must be quite a guy.
